If every U.S. household using oilheat converted to a 5% Bioheat® blend, petroleum consumption would be reduced by up to 500,000, barrels a year.

On September 16, 2009, the 23 NORA States reached an agreement on a new vision for the oilheat industry. It advocates a transition from traditional heating oil to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) blended with gradually increasing percentages of biodiesel.

Oil heat marketers today face eroding market share do to increased competition from natural gas and propane.  Fortunately, there is now a way to improve heating oil by blending advanced biofuels such as biodiesel which reduces carbon dioxide and CO2 emissions.
